Award winning artist, GAIL AUSTIN, of PINE COLORADO paints the natural surroundings that she loves so deeply. Her organic shapes and free flowing colors are easy on the eye and reflect the true inspiration and spiritual connection she holds so dear. Lost and found edges, layers and splashes of color, all can make a painting truly mystical and invite the viewers to tap into their own imagination. Her pieces can take you to another place and time, or connect you to “Gaia” (Earth) and the natural rhythms of life.

“My intention is to express what I see and feel. When I inspire the viewers, or expand their awareness, wow! Then, the piece has been truly successful! Spirit has come through. I feel honored to live and express in the field of art and beauty because it touches heart and can touch the Soul, colors can heal, and it can be a form of love expressed through the Expanding heart of the Universal Presence. I feel truly blessed when you the viewer feels the love that I feel when In-Spirit.”

“I have been doing art as long as I can remember. My dad was an artist and the art director of a commercial art firm in Chicago . I remember dad taking me to the Chicago Art Institute when I was really young and seeing him get tears in his eyes just looking at a painting. I didn’t understand it then but I do now.”

“I enjoy many media. Oils, watercolor, photography, charcoal, silk painting, tile making, ceramic sculpture, sewing, embroidery, etc.”

“ Watercolor has been my main media for 22 years, ceramics for about 10. Majolica is my specialty in ceramics. I utilize my knowledge of watercolor for my majolica pieces. Majolica is a technique of decorating terra cotta earthenware that has been around since the late 13^th century, sometimes it is referred as “tin glazing”.
